So there it is! The long awaited artwork for the new TUCKSY record! I kept it under wraps for as long as I could,
because I wanted to release it with a bang. And now that we have a date for the CD Release (Friday, April 24, Cornelia Street cafe),
I can let its awesomeness loose on the world! The cover was photographed and designed by the fabulous Marc Koecher,
and I must say that it surpassed even my expectations. We had an idea in mind, and we wanted to artwork to accurately reflect
the general vibe (no pun intended) of the music, and after a six hour photo session and many hours in the studio, Marc emerged with
this beauty. It goes quite well with the music contained WITHIN the record, and I am happy to finally be releasing this to everyone.
It will be available on cdbaby.com very soon, but for now you can swing on over to the MUSIC page and check
out a few samples that I have posted. I am so proud of this record and everyone that was a part ofr making it. Now I leave it in
your capable hands to spread the word and make us rich and famous!
There isn't too much other news, I've just been working so hard on getting this project done and out there, but 2009 will bring many changes
for me and my music. For one, I will be travelling back and forth to Toronto much more often to play there, and try and revive my
profile. I haven't played a show in Toronto since 2006, and that is quite distressing to me. I love the city and the musicians that
live there, so I'm making a point to get back there every couple of months and play with some of my favourite musicians.
Oh, and if you're looking for some Dan McCarthy without TUCKSY, I will be playing at the Cornelia Street Cafe later this month with George Garzone, Mark Shim, Michael Bates, and Nasheet Waits in a strict jazz sense. Should prove to be an amazing night of music! So please feel free to look around the site, let me know what you think of the new record, and I promise that you'll be able to purchase it online very soon!
Thanks so much for visiting danmccarthy.net!!
